Head of Spanish La Liga Tebas called Manchester City disqualification a good example – Sports

TASS, February 14th. The head of the Spanish La Liga, which holds the national championship of Spain, Javier Tebas believes that the decision of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to exclude English Manchester City from participating in European competitions is a good example of the fight against violations of the rules of financial fair play. A comment by Tebas is quoted by AP Harbourd on Twitter.

On Friday, UEFA decided to suspend Manchester City from participating in European competitions for two seasons, also obliging it to pay a fine of € 30 million. Later, the English club said it would challenge the UEFA decision in the Sports Arbitration Court.

“UEFA is finally taking decisive action. Ensuring compliance with financial fair play rules and punishment for shadow financing are necessary for future football. We finally have a good example of action,” said Tbas.

Manchester City is the reigning champion of England, the club has won the national championship six times, the Cup, the English Super Cup, as well as the English League Cup. Last year, Manchester City reached the quarter finals of the Champions League, where in the sum of two matches they lost to the future finalist of the tournament to the English Tottenham Hotspur (0: 1, 4: 3). The team has been participating in the main tournament of the Champions League over the past eight seasons.
