MOSCOW, February 22. / Corr. TASS Vladislav Zhukov. The Russian men’s biathlon team lacks professional skills in order to compete with leaders on equal terms. This opinion was expressed by TASS Vice President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Sergei Chepikov.

On Saturday at the World Championships in Italian Antholz relay race took place. Russian biathletes showed the fourth result, almost two minutes behind the leaders. The French won the baton, the Norwegians became the second, the Germans the third.

“Of course, I would like a better result, some members of the team had a decent margin of speed, this is somehow surprising,” Chepikov said. “We need to understand the reasons, because everyone has already participated in major international competitions. And the main conclusion – we still “lacking professional skills to fight leaders, Norwegians and French.”

The first to start as part of the Russian team, Yevgeny Garanichev made three misses at two firing lines and passed the baton to the 14th. “As I understand it, according to objective indicators, Eugene was in the relay four,” Chepikov said. “Of course, Karim Khalili could have tried, but it was a big start for him, so maybe the coaches decided to put a more experienced Garanichev. There there was probably no serious objective difference in functional training. ”

The biathlon world championship will end on Sunday with men’s and women’s mass starts.
