"After Leo's goal everything has been easier"

Barcelona, Dec 21 (EFE) .- The coach of FC Barcelona, Ernesto Valverde, acknowledged this Saturday that the appearance of Leo Messi with a goal (3-1) facilitated the victory against Deportivo Alavés, after a goal by Pere Pons (2-1) that left the Barcelona team "touched" in the second half.

"After the goal of Messi, everything has been easier," said the coach, adding: "With Messi these things happen, we really see it all. It is an advantage we have: he appears and makes a goal."

The Barca coach explained in the press conference after the clash at Camp Nou that he decided to raise a very serious encounter from the start because he was aware that Alavés would try to "make the long game" with his defensive game.

"There has been a time when there have not been so many arrivals because overcoming that tangle of players was complicated," said Valverde.

With this victory, Barça makes sure to maintain the leadership in LaLiga Santander to close the year, always depending on whether Real Madrid does not score more than six goals against Athletic Bilbao.

Looking ahead to 2020, Valverde said they will go "step by step" and with "peace of mind", to achieve their goal of winning the maximum number of games and titles possible.

On the other hand, the technician silenced all the rumors about a possible march to the Italian Inter Milan midfielder Arturo Vidal, whose work from the second line values much.

"We've been talking about Arturo Vidal since I don't know how long. Vidal is still here and he's still playing. He's our player, he's scored a goal and I don't have much to think about," he concluded.
