Edinson Cavani's agent says European clubs have contacted him about hiring Paris Saint-Germain striker late in the season when his contract expires.
The Uruguayan striker, who joined Napoli from PSG in 2013, will be available on a free transfer when the contract expires at the end of June 2020.
The Ligue 1 champions have not yet offered new terms to Cavani. Sporting director Leonardo said he was unsure whether he would extend the 32-year-old's stay in the French capital. If no deal is signed in the coming weeks, Cavani will be free to hold talks with foreign clubs about a pre-contract deal in January.
His agent, Walter Guglielmone, says there have been tentative discussions about a new contract with PSG, but is not too concerned about the possible options available to the striker.
Speaking to CalcioNapoli126, Guglielmone also confirmed that Cavani would not leave PSG during the January transfer window.
“He will be (in January). There are still discussions (about a new deal), but at the moment, nothing concrete, ”he said. “We are not very concerned about the extension of the contract. Edi will surely have countless opportunities and, above all, will be free at the end of his contract. ”
When asked where Cavani might end up at the end of the season, Guglielmone said: "It depends on the club project. Edi still has three years to play at the highest level and can play on any major team in Europe." Asked if Cavani could stay in Europe, he added: "Yes, it's a possibility, there are contacts, but I can't say anything."
However, so far, those interested in the player are from other locations. The Los Angeles Galaxy is one that greets the athlete. The US club would have already made a contact, according to Sky Sports Italia. The idea of the Americans is to invest in the Uruguayan with the imminent departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede will end his 18 month stay at MLS when his contract expires at the end of next month.
Brazilian fans may be scared, but Cavani has already been linked to Flamengo. The Rio de Janeiro club does not confirm but has even sought out his agents to bring him back to South America. The information was released by ESPN journalist Mauro Cézar Pereira. The attacker is intended to be shirt 9 in the event of Gabigol's departure. The Uruguayan, however, is not the only option. There are other names in the list of the carioca club.
